There are about 320 million people in the U.S, so roughly 44% of the country are potentially affected.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Here&#8217;s the full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equifaxsecurity2017.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\">statement released by Equifax<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>What to do Now<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">As a result of the breach, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2vT7hdN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\">Equifax has created a website<\/span><\/a> to help their customers know whether their information was affected. <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2vT7hdN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31089 noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31089 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/tjbdeals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-08-at-10.07.20-AM-300x170.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tjbdeals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-08-at-10.07.20-AM-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/tjbdeals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-08-at-10.07.20-AM.png 403w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Once on the website, click on &#8220;Check Potential Impact&#8221; and provide your last name and last 6 digits of your Social Security Number. You&#8217;ll then get a notification whether your personal information was impacted or not.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Equifax is offering 1 year of Trusted ID Premier &#8211; a credit monitoring and identity theft protection service, for free to everyone, regardless of whether your info was compromised or not. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equifaxsecurity2017.com\/enroll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\">click here &amp; go on &#8220;Begin Enrollment&#8221; <\/span><\/a>to start the process. If it tells you to come back at a later date, then you&#8217;ll have to come back to the site &#8220;Continue Enrollment&#8221; after that date.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><del><br \/>\n<\/del><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>A couple of questions still remain:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Update 3:48pm: Equifax has opened up a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.equifaxsecurity2017.com\/frequently-asked-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\">Frequently Asked Questions Page<\/span><\/a><\/span> to answer some of the questions we and many others had.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Why should we give even more responsibility to Equifax to monitor our credit with the TrustedID Premier if they did not protect us in this hack? <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;We have engaged a leading, independent cybersecurity firm to conduct an assessment and provide recommendations on steps that can be taken to help prevent this type of incident from happening again.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Why are they only offering one year free when as a result of this hack, our info is vulnerable long term<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equifaxsecurity2017.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\">press release<\/span><\/a>, the hacked occurred back in July. Why didn&#8217;t they let us know about it sooner? <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;As soon as Equifax discovered the unauthorized access, Equifax acted immediately to stop the intrusion. The company promptly engaged a leading, independent cybersecurity firm which has been conducting a comprehensive forensic review to determine the scope of the intrusion, including the specific data impacted. Because this incident involves a substantial amount of personal identifying information, the investigation has been complex and time-consuming. As soon as we had enough information to begin notification, we took appropriate steps to do so.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to SEC filings, several Equifax Executives sold nearly $2 Million of stock on August 1st and 2nd, a week after they discovered the breach. Equifax shares dropped 12.8% since the announcement yesterday. Did they indeed sell their stock after discovering the breach?
