Even Amazon has its limits. <\/span>The e-commerce giant bans shoppers from the site for infractions such as returning too many items, sometimes without telling them what they did wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amazon has cultivated an image as a customer-friendly company in part by making it easy for shoppers to send back items they don\u2019t want. The site\u2019s lax return policies have conditioned consumers to expect the same treatment from other retailers, adding to pressure on brick-and-mortar chains. But shoppers are finding out there are some customers Amazon has determined aren\u2019t worth keeping.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rumors and stories of these bans have been circulating the internet for years. Although Amazon rarely gives a reason why someone gets banned, their former employees say they ban accounts who request too many refunds, send back the wrong items or receive compensation for writing reviews.<\/span><\/p>\n

In most cases, special algorithms are used to locate return abusers at which point Amazon will decide whether or not action needs to be taken.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe want everyone to be able to use Amazon, but there are rare occasions where someone abuses our service over an extended period of time,” read an Amazon statement. “We never take these decisions lightly, but with over 300 million customers around the world, we take action when appropriate to protect the experience for all our customers. If a customer believes we\u2019ve made an error, we encourage them to contact us directly so we can review their account and take appropriate action.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
