Amazon is continuing to push the limits on delivery speed, now introducing new 1-hour and 3-hour delivery options in select areas across the U.S.
With this rollout, customers can now get access to over 90,000 everyday items—including groceries, household essentials, electronics, beauty products, and more—delivered to their door in just a few hours.
The 1-hour delivery option is currently available in hundreds of cities, while the 3-hour option has expanded to over 2,000 cities and towns nationwide.
There is a fee for the faster convenience:
-
Prime members: $9.99 (1-hour) or $4.99 (3-hour)
-
Non-members: $19.99 (1-hour) or $14.99 (3-hour)
You’ll be able to easily find eligible items by using new filters like “in 1 hour” or “in 3 hours” directly on Amazon. You will then have to select your delivery option at checkout.
This move is clearly aimed at competing with ultra-fast delivery services like Instacart and DoorDash, while giving Prime members even more value and convenience.
Bottom line: This is Amazon going after your last-minute runs—whether it’s diapers, medicine, a gift or groceries. We’ll be watching closely to see if free or discounted delivery promos start popping up.
