On January 31st, Walmart dropped its Shipping Pass program to give everyone free 2 day shipping with a $35+ purchase. At the time, Amazon only had free 2 day shipping for Prime Members and free shipping for everybody else on $49+.
To counter that, on February 17 Amazon lowered its free shipping thresh-hold for non-prime members to $35+
To counter that, Walmart started giving a 5-10% discount if you select the pick up in store option as a response to Amazon who have no physical locations.
Then just a few days ago, Amazon again reduced its free shipping thresh-hold to non-prime members, this time from $35 to $25.
To counter that, Walmart started giving an even bigger discount on people who select to pick-up in store again hoping their bargain prices on those items would be too much for Amazon to ship.
Today, Amazon has begun price matching Walmart’s in-store pickup discounts which has this day feeling like a mini black Friday.
