How Do You Know if a Great Online Deal is a Good Deal for You?

This is a question many shoppers should keep in mind in today’s age of instant online purchases.

Here are a few tips to consider when shopping for deals online:

Don’t shop the deal, shop the need. Just because a piece of furniture is 75% off doesn’t mean it’s worth your money. Make a list of things you need or want and wait for a deal on those items. Don’t let a sale pressure you into buying something unnecessary.

The BOGO dilemma. I’m 100% against BOGO (buy one, get one) deals unless I truly need two of that particular item. If the entire deal relies on purchasing a second, unnecessary item, then it’s no longer a deal in my book.

Stick to brands you know. Online shopping can take us anywhere, which is why I prefer to stick to notable and recognizable brands. Always research and review any brand before making your first purchase.

Be wary of pricing tricks. Don’t fall for “Reg. $99.99 – Today $49.99” without doing a little research. While the discount may be real, always compare prices across different websites. A sale price at one store could be the regular price elsewhere.

Check the return policy. Always review the store’s return policy before making a purchase. Pay attention to return windows, restocking fees, and potential return shipping costs. These factors can turn what seems like a great deal into a costly mistake.

Keeping these tips in mind can help you make smarter online purchases and avoid buyer’s remorse.

Happy Shopping!
