Update May 11th: Prime Membership is now $119/year
On Friday, Amazon will raise the price of its Prime Membership from $99 to $119 per year.
NON-PRIME MEMBERS – HERE’S HOW TO LOCK IN LOWER PRICE:
You can sign up here for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime. After your free 30 days, you’ll be charged $99 for the year.
Student’s can get a 6 month free trial of prime by signing up here and then will be charged $49/year. On Friday, Student membership will increase from $49 to $59/year.
Medicaid and EBT cardholders will still be able to get Amazon Prime for only $5.99/month [Can sign up here]
CURRENT PRIME MEMBERS – HERE’S HOW TO LOCK IN LOWER PRICE:
You can buy Prime gift memberships for $99 here. At checkout, simply enter your email in the “recipient’s email” section and enter a delivery date. You can have it delivered immediately and save it in your email or you can have it emailed a few days before your prime membership expires. No matter how much the prime membership costs at the time your membership expires, you’ll be able to apply this $99 gift membership on your account. IMPORTANT: You must turn off “Auto Renew” of your Prime Membership. You can do that by clicking here and hitting ‘End my Benefits’ or ‘End Membership.’
Amazon might ask once or twice more if you really want to cancel and you should continue until its cancelled. Once cancelled, you will be given a date when your membership will end.
Once your prime membership expires, you can go back to your email where you sent your Prime gift membership and simply follow the link in the email to sign up for Amazon Prime for $99/year!
Final note: If you’re grandgathered into an account which you share with 4 people, you shoudn’t do the above as it will end your old membership and lose the ability to have 4 people on 1 account. Its worthwhile for you to continue with your old account and pay the higher prime membership price going forward.
