The “deal site” world has exploded over the past decade. With so much competition, many sites have shifted from quality to quantity — posting anything that looks like a deal. Some of the worst offenders have even been around for years. If it looks like a deal, they’ll post it — whether it actually saves you money or not.
Not every deal is a deal!
Too many of these so-called deal sites rely on shady tactics to make average or even overpriced items look like deals. Here are just a few of the tricks we’ve seen:
1. False Claims About Price History
They’ll claim something is “normally $99, now $49!” — when in reality, that item has been $49 or even less for months. They count on you not checking.
2. Sponsored Listings Disguised as Deals
Brands pay these sites to feature their products, and the sites present them as a deal — without disclosing that they’re getting paid to push it.
3. Inflated List Prices + Fake Urgency
They’ll highlight a fake MSRP to make it seem like a major discount, and then slap on words like “GO FAST!” or “RUUUUNNNNNNN!” to trigger impulse buys. It’s not about saving you money — it’s about creating a false rush.
4. Credit Card Deal Tricks
We didn’t even get into one of the biggest areas of manipulation: credit card deals. That’s a whole playbook of its own — with misleading claims, hidden terms, and shady tactics used just to earn commissions.
If you’re curious, we broke it all down in a separate article. Just search our site for “The Truth About Credit Card Deals.” You’ll never look at those offers the same way again.
Now, you might be thinking:
“But I’ve actually found some great deals on those sites.”
And yes — you probably have. That’s part of the strategy. They mix in a few real ones to build trust… but then surround them with fluff, filler, and fake-outs.
In fact, many of these sites copy and steal deals that we originally posted — just to appear more credible. Then they flood their pages with “deals” that don’t actually save you anything.
We do things differently.
No exaggeration. No urgency games. No misleading tactics.
We simply present the deal and the price — that’s it. No fluff. No gimmicks. No unnecessarily shouting “HURRY!!!” to pressure you into buying something that’s not a deal.
Our goal is simple: Give you the real deals and let you decide.
In the end, it’s up to you to decide what’s worth your money — just make sure you’re not falling for the deceitful tactics some other deal sites rely on.

Finally someone said it. I’ve been thinking this forever
That why i love TJB!
This reminds me of that time I bought a ‘deal’ from some deal site and they literally wrote something like RRRRRUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! for 12 pack of bod lotion for like $12. When I got it, it turned out to be travel size bottles which is literally around $1 each.
This explains so much
